Instagram and Processing

I have had a few requests here and there for a Processing sketch to access the Instagram API and retrieve photographs.

Here is code for a very simple Processing sketch that retrieves and saves the first 10 photographs of an image based on provided hashtag. In the JSONObject, make sure to swap in your tag and client id.

Collapsing Time and Memory with Instacollage

For Recurring Concepts in Art, Joelle and I are taking my Instacollages and remaking them without technology. The process of deconstructing my original project has forced me several times over to reflect on the motivations and process that led to Instacollage.

Joelle found this great quote which sums up collage and juxtaposition quite nicely:

Processing: Instacollage and the Instagram API

Today, I learned how to access the Instagram API and ran my Instacollage sketch using Instagram photos pulled from the web. (Many thanks to Uttam who helped me figure out how to work with the Instagram API!)

Less talk, more collage!

First up, “Instacool collages” which combine recent “popular” images (photos with thousands of likes).
