After 6 weeks of dragging my feet, I finally borrowed a Canon 5D from ITP. Luckily for me, the lighting conditions were exactly the kind to cause fireworks in my brain. Serendipity!
Light + Canon 5D = Amazing
I even managed to get a rather nice shot while waiting for the subway.
Look, it’s a train!
I met up with Saki to explore the wonder that is NYC, but somehow we ended up in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. At a bus stop.
Saki: Follow me to Coney Island! I will take us there! (This happens later)
And on to the Brooklyn Army Terminal, open to the public as part of Open House New York.
I took almost the EXACT same photo with my iPhone CANON 5D. NOT IMPRESSED.
And then Saki suggested we ditch Open House New York for Coney Island. Of course, the light was super soft and dreamy at Coney Island. It was just one of those amazing days!
Note to self: focus
And because I can’t focus a 50mm lens….I took some more blurry photos of the beach…on purpose.
Saki really likes seagulls. She is clearly not from California.
These kids also really like seagulls. It must be a New York thing.
Hopefully they are practicing running FROM the seagulls, NOT towards them.
And more seagulls. This time, attacking!
Saki, look out, it’s a trap!
Then Saki and I enjoyed some “fine” American dining and clamshells in a basket.
Note: seagulls in New York are a lot bigger than the California variety.
We will eat you
It was an amazingly beautiful day, and I remembered how much I love cameras. And photography. Pure joy!
Farewell Coney Island!
